Beijing Chinese language schools are in demand, and why not? when not only the neighbouring countries but also the western countries like USA and UK are waking up to the fact that Chinese is not just another foreign language they can afford to ignore.
china is the one country that has shown tremendous growth in every field. it has surpassed all its competitors in terms of growth rate. vast natural resources, geographical location, huge population and factors like political stability has contributed to china's spectacular rise.
china is undoubtedly the next superpower.
the awakening of this sleeping giant in terms of its global economic presence has led to an ever increasing demand for Chinese language. Some experts have even made the claim that American students should be required to learn Chinese while still in the middle grades, as it is a language whose importance on the world stage will only continue to grow, and which will, indeed, be necessary in the coming years for the completion of many international business transactions, and considering America's sense of urgency regular Chinese classes may soon become common in American schools, where Chinese is rapidly becoming the hot new language. Government officials have long wanted more focus on security-useful languages like Chinese, and pressure from them - as well as from business leaders and politicians- has prompted a quick growth in the number of programs. Chicago itself is home to the largest effort to include Chinese in US public schools. The program here has grown to include 3,000 students in 20 schools, with more schools on a waiting list. Programs have also spread to places like Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, and North Carolina.
The number of students learning Chinese in united states alone is tiny though when compared with how many study Spanish or French. But one report shows that precollegiate enrollment nearly quadrupled between 1992 and 2002, from 6,000 to 24,000. which is obviously astonishing..!
the same is true for other developed countries as well. but despite the demand the problem that the world is facing is the lack of enough teachers. The overseas demand for Chinese teachers is becoming increasingly greater and more specific," said Jiang. "It is hard for me to find enough Chinese teachers meeting the requirements." In the past 50 years, China has increased its number of the Chinese teachers sent abroad. There are now approximately 1,000 teachers from China teaching the Chinese language abroad, said Jiang, including 100 teachers sent by the government, 300 sent by their universities and more than 600 overseas Chinese students. However, the teaching staff is not able to meet the overseas demand as the number of Chinese learners is on rise, said the deputy director of the China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (NOTCFL). More and more foreign students are also flocking to China for study. During the decade from 1992 to 2002, China had received 410,000 foreign students. In 2002 alone, over 60,000 came to China.
students in India are still unaware of this huge opportunity. they have this geographical location advantage which should not be overlooked. although Chinese is in great demand but lack of enough teachers is attaching more value with such demand.
knowing Chinese language is the most important advantage if one really wish to compete in this globalised world. if English is indispensable then the importance Chinese has gained the world over cannot be overlooked.
